Nefes

dir. Cem Terbiyeli, 16’04’’

Arif, in his 30s, lives in a house by the side of a railway track with his bedridden and almost lifeless father, Rauf. The burden of taking care of Rauf has fallen entirely on Arif’s shoulders. Arif is not happy with these responsibilities, having just been released from prison and unable to find a job.

Arif couldn’t adhere to the plans he made with his girlfriend Nermin to escape from the chaos they were living in. Nermin talks to him for the last time and takes a stand. Upon this, Arif calls his older brother to the house and talks about freeing himself from these burdens. He asks his brother to take over the responsibilities. His brother cannot make sense of this and promises financial support, telling him that he cannot leave. Arif reiterates to his brother that he wants to change his life and break free from this vicious cycle. Will Arif set out like a passing train in front of his house, or will he remain tied to this station until the end?
